In 1974, a group of about twenty individuals created at Iowa State University a club called the Conflict Simulation Association, which was unofficially known as the ISU Gamers. December 1979 saw this organization's name modified to the Iowa State University Simulation Association. During the summer of 1987, at the suggestion of the venerable (and now unfortunately late) Standing Bear, the name was changed to its present one: The Iowa State University Guild of Wargamers and Roleplayers. From its beginning, the Guild has provided a meeting place for everyone in central Iowa who is interested in any aspect of gaming or roleplaying. As a result, while the core of the membership belongs to the Iowa State University community, the Guild encourages and welcomes the general public to join it and share in its activities. |
